Getting Busy on the Proof

paul

John Kenneth Galbraith once said, “Faced with choice between changing one’s mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof”.

The more I read and learn about behavioral economics the more I realize just how much our human thinking process is flawed and totally biased. We all have a huge tendency towards believing what we want to believe vs. what is true and evidence based.

This flawed thinking process negatively affects virtually every aspect of our lives including personal relationships, business and, of course, investing and financial matters.

Getting busy on the proof is a fascinating blog that talks about several higher profile situations where people insist on seeing and believing what they want to see regardless of the facts. Of particular interest is how a flat earth believer named Jeran Campanella still believes the world is flat despite his own experiment which proved otherwise.

A great eye opener, I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for reading,
